Cockatiel ( Cockatoo )

The name cockatoo originated from a word in Malaysian, kaka(k)tua. Cockatoos share physical features and general shape with the overall parrot family. Cockatoos are known for a particularly comical spirit and playful vocal expression. Physical features make the cockatoo immediately recognizable, like the standing claw foot with two forward toes and two backwards toes. Feather texture, presence of a gall bladder, and a moveable head crest differentiate this breed.

The cockatoo is a junior breed derivative of the cockatiel. High crowns in spectacular colors make these birds colorful part of any home. Cockatoos are also a part of the parrot family and thrive as domesticated pets.

What kind of bird cage is best for the Cockatoo type of parrot? Ideally, it will have a काज with enough space between the bars to clearly perceive individuals and objects around them. Cockatoos can range over the general parrot size and become very large according to breed and variety.

Cockatoos are social parrots which need stimulation from owners and family members. Care should be taken to school the parrot to individuals before attempts at hand feeding or training tricks. Imaginative toys should be provided to keep the cockatoo actively involved and interacting healthily. Plucking, tearing at skin, pointless screeching, and less than rounded eyes could signal intestinal parasites or bacterial infection. Cockatoos are not mere specialty birds to look at, if neglected from inattention they suffer from boredom or inactivity. Parrots of this type are flock animals and suffer from isolation.
Cockatoos are known for their colorful feathers। Healthy feather growth covers skin, keeping it moist and preventing it from being exposed to bacteria and airborne viruses। Feather pulling and plucking can be prevented by tying on a preventative linen vest that protects the skin and hide through the trunk and joints। Regular disinfection and cleaning of the parrot cage and accessories is recommended.

Clipping the wings of a the cockatoo parrot is a matter of opinion। Domestic parrots which become clipped need a year to regrow feathers in। Clipping feathers to aid husbandry must depend on their owners in every instance from protection from predators and exist without flight. Domesticated parrot pets should be given baths as wild parrots receive similar washing from rain, pond water, and fountain or waterfall mist।

A clipped Cockatoo parrot requires husbandry to survive without a full feathered wingspan. Veterinary staff or owners should take care not to cut blood feathers and only remove flight feathers. Owners should always be on lookout for beak and feather diseases. Check these areas during misting or shower times. Discharge or discoloration should be grounds for a professional veterinary exam.
Pet parrot owners can shower with their parrots and carefully blow dry their feathers. Make sure under feather skin and wing feather nooks and crannies are dryish. Use medium warm water and only medium blow dry heat settings. Cockatoo parrots eat cooked parrot food, dry seed, and prepared mixtures. A Cockatoo parrot breed is a smaller bird that eats a cooked nut mash.
